Advanced Digital Twins

Studying rockfalls and landslides progression through high-fidelity virtual replicas of alpine slopes, integrating sensors and simulation data.

Safe Territories

Focused on the safety of critical infrastructure, translating complex data into actionable insights for Civil Protection and municipal administrators.

Citizen Science

Resilience is a collective effort: local citizens and stakeholders contribute directly to monitoring, providing real-time observations that can improve predictive models.

Surveying Rialba and San Martino sites

Building landslide digital twins, one picture at a time!

As part of the Cariplo TWINFALL project, the Geodetic and Photogrammetric Laboratory of Politecnico di Milano team (LabMGF) is exploring advanced technologies to support landslide risk management and develop digital twins. This starts with documenting the site through field surveys with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle photogrammetry and GPS measurements.
Over the past weeks, the LabMGF team has conducted intensive surveys at two critical sites in the Pre-Alpine region of the province of Lecco: the 100-metre-high conglomerate pillars of Torrioni di Rialba and the impressive 330-metre-high vertical cliff of San Martino Mountain, which has a history of rockfalls.
